History of Randolph County EXCEL

The program was first offered in Randolph County in Moberly, Missouri, under a cooperative effort between the University Extension office, citizens of Randolph County, and faculty of the University of Missouri in 1984.  The success of  this program provided the incentive for other Missouri communities to offer similar programs.

With the closing of the local extension office, Randolph County EXCEL, Inc. was established as a legal entity in order to continue offering this opportunity to other members of our community.  The board of Randolph County EXCEL, Inc. strives to carry on the work of this founding group.

As a result of  an  EXCEL VII class project, Youth EXCEL I was born in 2001 with 15 participants.  Youth EXCEL classes for grades 9-12 are typically held in odd-numbered years and adult EXCEL sessions in even-numbered years in Randolph County.  Alumni of past EXCEL programs are instrumental in the continuation of this project in Randolph County.
